Please Change My Mind

I know I haven't been very active lately (a thing I have to change) but still from a galaxy far away I came across the news of the new Hunger Games cover.

And I am here to beg ask you followers to tell me your thoughts on this cover, because if you ask me, am, I expected a bit more =[

I think it's the blue thing they have going on. Because I like the bird (freedom) and the symbols on the back of the bird (which are a thing of The Hunger Games covers).

But I don't think this one really goes with the others. I would have loved more dark colors, which would have contrasted well with the white of the bird. Maybe it was the shock of finally seeing the book cover for the first time after I had been waiting so long for it. Maybe it was just high expectations, or maybe it was I expected something similar to the other covers.

And wasn't the title suppose to be The Victors? I guess this means the Mockingjay will be a big part of the book, right?

Even though I may have not got what I expected, I can't wait to read the conclusion as long as Gale doesn't end up with Katniss.

28 Days of Winter Escapes Assets

Hapercollins. The father (or mother) of the incredible Harperteen; which brought us such delights like Wicked lovely, Wondrous Strange, Before I Fall, and so much more. Anyways, I was lucky enough to be chosen to feature one of their authors today and I got... Anna Godbersen! The amazing writer that brought us the The Luxe series. The following is a little Q & A HarperTeen put together:

1.The girls in the Luxe series often have to make choices to follow their hearts or their heads—in general, which do you yourself tend to do?

As a teenager, and as a person in my twenties, I definitely followed my heart most of the time—to glorious, painful, wincingly fascinating, life-changing ends. Now that I am almost thirty, I am learning to use both, to let them collaborate a little more. But I’m glad as a younger person I let my heart navigate!

2.The covers of the Luxe series books are SO gorgeous! If you could own only one of the dresses, which one would you want?

I love the covers, but to be honest, I am such an unfussy dresser, I don’t know if I could pull any of them off. But if I was going to try, it would be the dress on the cover of Envy—I love putting myself in a big swath of white.

3.Which would you prefer for a date in New York City: horse carriage ride through Central Park, or ice-skating at Rockefeller Center?

They both sound great for different reasons, but I would have to pick a date in a Central Park carriage for the following reasons: I love summer, and I am assuming this is a warm and breezy, leafy carriage ride; I am not a performer, and I prefer dates to be private and secluded and calm; and there is way more kissing potential in a carriage.

4.Which Luxe gentleman would you want to go on a date with?

Sigh. Will is clearly the better man, but I am such a sucker for flash and bad behavior, and I’m afraid it would be Henry I’d be shamelessly following with my eyes.

5.What is your favorite love song (new or old)?

Such a tough question! So many love songs (and really aren’t they all?). Right now it’s a tie between Sam Cooke’s “That’s Where It’s At” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Honey Hi.” When I was in high school, it was probably Bob Dylan’s “Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands” or Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You,” when I was feeling dark and complicated, or Liz Phair’s “Supernova,” when I was feeling brash and bright. As you can see, my taste has gotten much simpler!

6.Since you didn’t grow up with these cold winters, have you gotten used to the wind, snow, and chilly temps yet?

The payoff for winter is a real summer—with humid storms and hot nights, a season that really feels earned and wondrous when it comes around. I appreciate the whole four seasons thing, which you don’t get in California—that episodes of your life, on the East Coast, are associated with changes in the weather. But honestly I am always waiting eagerly for the cold bits to be over.

7.If you were snowed in, what are the three items that you would want to have with you?

A Henry James novel, a fireplace, and a boy who makes me laugh.

8.What’s your favorite winter sport?

Any one of them, so long as it’s the part after exercise, when you come in all exhilarated and red-nosed, and sit someplace warm, and have hot chocolate.

9.Do you believe in happily-ever-after?

No way! I believe in love, and literature, and rock and roll, but I am a connoisseur of life as it is: messy, lots of work required. And in the long run, that’s the more satisfying thing—not meeting someone perfect, but working through mistakes, the knots of personality, and deciding over a matter of years to belong to one another.

I just got back from work so I may be a LITTLE bit late (don't burst my bubble) but better late than never!

Today was the release day of First Drops of Crimson, a completely new spin off series from The Night Huntress Series (an awesome series indeed). If you have been following my latest posts you will know I had a pretty good interview with dear Jeaniene were we talked about the series, her characters, and basically her. We had a lot of fun and it really gave me insight into the heart of the series.

Although the UK covers do look original and cool, I prefer the US ones. Maybe its because I am used to those ones, or maybe it's because they just look so clean and simple which gives more power to the story. They just go with the story. Although I gotta say I like the spots of blood on the Uk covers, because let's face it there is a lot of death in the story. For me it's a US win all the way.

Is anyone here attending BEA this year?!?! I know that even if it is the last thing I do, I will be at BEA this year. Not only at BEA, but at BBC (Book Blooger Convention)

Yes, fine, you could say Ive been a little absent... Make that the understatement of the year. The truth is I moved to a new house. I don't like it as much as I did my other house (I had my own room) but oh well as long as I am 17 years old I have to live with it (the 'it' in this case is my sister, who I love, but she gets on my nerves sometimes, and vise versa).

Anyways I also have school, and work, and before you know it I don't post in two or three days.

Yesterday (February 1st) was my Blogaversary... and I didn't get to do a post or anything! So just to let you know Bloody Bookaholic is in celebration mode! Ive been blogging for about a year now (goodness, that long?) and I can't say I hate it. Cause that would make me a big fat liar. I love doing this, and I hope you love reading it too.

And you know what is even awesomer? (yes, it's a word, go with it) I reached 700 followers on my first year of blogging! If that ain't a good omen I don't know what is! Thank you so much to you because if it weren't for you, well, I would be talking to myself, which is not bad sometimes, but it does make me seem kind of craaazzzyyyy O.o
