OH GOD I LOVE IT!! So much better than the Jealousy Cover! It's just perfect. The pose of the model is wonderful, I can get Defiance from the model's pose. The blue background is gorgeous, blue with white with... I don't know it just works. And the font as always ;)

This cover totally goes into the 2011 Favorite Covers list, and it's only 2010 right now!

"I struggled. There was no use. He lifted me out of there like I was a rag doll, then dumped me in the scrub-land at the side of the road. I staggered back against the rough surface of a granite rock.

"Real cool car," the buddy int he background said. He was carrying a steel bar that I hadn't seen until then. "Yeah- it's a freaking shame."

Now my heart felt as if it had broken through my chest and was pounding up in my throat, making me gag with fear. Kyle Keppler gave the other guy a signal and I heard the metal bar whack into the hood of my car.

"That could be your skull," Keppler told me, pressing me hard against the boulder. "Jeez, what a mess."

Finished reading this book yesterday, but won't post my review till October because that's when it's coming out.

"She fixed me with a serious gaze. I hadn't looked at the website. Eeep. But praise be for the hateful man in Starbucks, I did know what a blogger was.

"Well, I'm going through a pretty one-of-a-kind situation right now," I started.

"One-of-a-kind has no appeal to my readers," she said, already looking away at her flat screen monitor and wheeling her mouse.

"Well, one-of-a-kind in a way, but in another way, it's something every girl has gone through," I blagged. "I've split up with my boyfriend of ten years and now I'm dating for the first time."

"Go on," she said, still looking away, but the wheeling had stopped.

"Well, I found out he was cheating on me at my friend's wedding, made a bit of a scene and then sort of ran away to New York," I explained quickly, "And now I'm dating. Two men. A banker and this guy in a band." I had to admit, I thought it sounded pretty bloody interesting. Probably even more so if you weren't having to go through it yourself."

Taschima's POV:

This book started out with Meghan in the Winter court. Held "prisoner" by the Winter Queen and with no one to turn to Meghan is feeling a bit depressed. Ash won't even look at her. Puck is in some tree trying to come back to life. Her other friends, if you can call them friends, are nowhere to be found, and her father hasn't even popped in to say hi. At least her younger brother Ethan is back safe and sound in their home. A home which is very far away from where she is, a home she doesn't even know if she'll ever go back to, a home that might not even remember her by the time she is able to escape... But as these thoughts are circling Meghan's mind something even worse and more sinister is happening in the background. Betrayal, love, sadness, war...The Iron Fey are ready to conquer.

I liked the Iron Daughter the same as I liked the Iron King. It has every single element I loved in it's previous installment, but in this one you get a closer look into the romance part of the story. Which is not bad because for me it didn't overpower the action.

This time the quest if different though. Someone stole Winter's turn and that is screwing up with everything in both the real world and fairy world. And of course it falls in our heroines head to found the fricking thing because everybody else is too fricking blind!

War is so close you could smell it burn.

Love so far away, it's fiery ember has left the premises

and all you can feel is the cold.

The characters are a blast as always. Meghan may be a bit more sad than in the Iron King but it's understandable. Ash is as cold and sexy as always -oh and you get character development!!! Loved seeing the other side of the Ash coin. And Puck is a bit more daring if that is even possible. You also get some old enemies and old fre-nemies in the mix, which always turns out to be a blast.

Thing is, with everything that happened in this book, I really don't want to wait till The Iron Queen comes about. Sure most of the "twists" in this novel I could smell a mile away, but when you have read as much as we have is very hard to surprise us. Leaving out the element of surprise the twists are good enough that I will purchase the next book to this series in a heart beat if possible.

PS; I did not read the novella between The Iron King and The Iron Daughter called The Winter Passage, so don't be afraid if you haven't read it and want to go right ahead and read this one. It is not a requirement to read TWP since Julie Kagawa does a great job of basically summarizing what happens in that novella in this book.

Interview With Kirsten Miller + Giveaway!!!

Kristen Miller is the author of The Eternal Ones, a YA novel that just hit bookstores on August 10. The Eternal Ones is a story on Reincarnation, murder, and love. Those are the main things, but it's so much more than that!! Kristen really has an unique voice that I think most of you guys would love. I know I do.

She is also the author of the Kiki Strike series, one that I have YET to read, but that it's now on the top of myWish list.

1. What are your views, beliefs, on Reincarnation?

Why Reincarnation?

I love the idea of reincarnation. I truly believe it could explain so much! (Déjà vu, love at first sight, phobias, why I’ve always felt the need to travel to Istanbul.)

I’m not sure if I believe in reincarnation, though I’ve heard plenty of stories that have made me wonder if there might be something to it. Lots of little kids seem to “remember” other incarnations—and some of the details they offer are pretty darn convincing. So let’s just say that if my daughter (who’s nineteen months old) ever starts talking about a previous life, I’m going to pay VERY close attention to whatever she tells me!

2. Is this series in anyway similar to your other series (Kiki Strike)?

Funny you should ask . . . a Kiki Strike fan posted on Facebook that she was disappointed to hear that The Eternal Ones is “about love.” Well it is, but I promise this book is just as exciting and strange as any of the Kiki Strike novels. It’s written for a more mature audience, and it does feature a whole lottaromance, but it was written by me. And I’m incapable of writing books that aren’t extremely weird on many levels.

3. Talk to us about New York, why did you choose it for the novel, your feelings towards it, favorite places, bookstores, I don't know, anything! xD

New York City is my favorite place in the world. I feel so lucky to live here. Even when I stroll down a street I walk every day, I always stumble across something new and exciting. Always. I just moved to a new neighborhood in Brooklyn, and I’m really fascinated by all the nineteenth century stables and carriage houses near my home. (I’m a big history buff.) And there are lots of hidden houses, too! (KikiStrike fans will know what I’m talking about.) That’s why I always encourage people to explore their own neighborhoods. You never know what you’ll find! (For instance, my house used to be a brothel. How crazy is that?)

Quite a few of my favorite places are actually featured in The Eternal Ones: the Washington Mews, Washington Square Park, Central Park Lake, etc.

Taschima: I've only been to New York once in my entire life, for BEA, and I love it! I absolutely love when novels put their characters there.

4. Do you love Iain or Ethan more?

Who is your favorite guy of the novel and why?

I adore them both. A friend of mine once observed that I tend to go for “swashbuckling” men. I think that label fits both Ethan and Iain. (And I’ve always had a thing for guys with auburn hair like Ethan’s.) See, that’s the nice thing about writing books with a little romance in them. You get to dream up some pretty amazing love interests for your heroines.

I also have a big crush on Beau Decker. (And why not? I have a big crush on Neil Patrick Harris, too.)

5. And finally, my favorite question,

If you were to pick actors for your book, who would you pick and why.

I can’t really say who I’d choose to portray Haven or Iain. None of the usual suspects, I assure you.

The one actor I thought of when writing this book was James Franco.

He would be the perfect Adam Rosier. Perfect! He has such a wicked smile. And those cheekbones!

Taschima: Oh God yes. I would watch that movie in a heartbeat. Hehe...

A Trailer Worth Watching!

To be completely honest I don't like most book trailers. I think Ive already said this before, but the ones I watch and actually like I must give a thumbs up to and post here at the blog.

This trailer is for the Beautiful Dead series. I'ts kind of like an inspector series where this girl goes around uncovering the truth of four different deaths. The first book is Jonas, and the second one is Arizona. I read Jonas, and it's soo good.

Summary:

Something strange is happening in Ellerton High. Phoenix is the fourth teenager to die within a year. His street fight stabbing follows the deaths of Jonas, Summer and Arizona in equally strange and sudden circumstances. Rumours of ghosts and strange happenings rip through the small community as it comes to terms with shock and loss. Darina, Phoenix's grief-stricken girlfriend, is on the verge. She can't escape her intense heartache, or the impossible apparitions of those that are meant to be dead. And all the while the sound of beating wings echo inside her head...

And then one day Phoenix appears to Darina. Ecstatic to be reunited, he tells her about the Beautiful Dead. Souls in limbo, they have been chosen to return to the world to set right a wrong linked to their deaths and bring about justice. Beautiful, superhuman and powerful, they are marked by a 'death mark' -- a small tattoo of angel's wings. The trailer is very spooky! I think it fits the series perfectly.

"I love you!"

The words just tumbled out of me. I didn't mean to say them, but the moment I did, my stomach twisted with disbelief and utter horror. My hands flew back to my mouth, but it was far, far too late. Rowan grinned his biggest yet, a smile full of terrible glee, like he'd been given the best present in the world.

Ash froze, his back still to me. For just a moment, I saw his hands clench at his sides.

"That's unfortunate for you, isn't it?" he said, his voice dead of emotion. "But the Summer Court has always been weak. Why would I touch the half-breed daughter of Oberon? Don't make me sick, human."

It was like an icy hand plunged into my body, ripping my heart from my chest. I felt actual physical pain lance through me. My legs buckled, and I collapsed to the snow, ice crystals biting into my palms. I couldn't breathe, couldn't even cry. All I could do was kneel there, the cold seeping through my jeans, hearing Ash's words echo through my head."

So much drama! The book started pretty strong, there's drama on one side, danger on the other, and war is approaching us, I suspect lack of action will not be a problem in this installment.

I'm loving it.
