Secrets, sequel to The Ivy, Teaser Tour!!!!!

So do you remember this book called The Ivy? It's a book about a bunch of college freshman at Harvard, a book that shows the "dark" and "Crazy" side of the Harvard student body, a la Gossip Girl with brains. Anyways, I REALLY enjoyed that book, gave it a 5 hearts and all. And today I have a super exclusive teaser for you all. a teaser from the next book in the series Secrets!

Are you ready for it? Here is the super exclusive teaser, enjoy it!!!

"What happened at Harvard-Yale was a huge mistake. It was wrong for us to have slept together, and if I could take it back, I would...

There is no hope for us in the future. I don’t see how we could even just be friends."

Oh gosh!! I can't wait to read this book!! Hmm that teaser was awfully short though... Do you want to read more? Well here is a book description:

"Reputation, Reputation, Reputation.

You're a student at the most prestigious university in the country, and you've been tapped for the most elite social club. You've made it!
Now Don't Blow It!

But she may have ruined every-thing with one ill-fated night. Now she's keeping secrets from everyone, including—

Cover Revealed: Summer's Crossing by Julie Kagawa!!!!!

Expected publication: June 1st 2011
by Harlequin Teen
"A Midsummer's Nightmare? Robin Goodfellow. Puck. Summer Court prankster, King Oberon's right hand, bane of many a faery queen's existence—and secret friend to Prince Ash of the Winter Court. Until one girl's death came between them, and another girl stole both their hearts.
Now Ash has granted one favor too many and someone's come to collect, forcing the prince to a place he cannot go without Puck's help—into the heart of the Summer Court. And Puck faces the ultimate choice—betray Ash and possibly win the girl they both love, or help his former friend turned bitter enemy pull off a deception that no true faery prankster could possibly resist.
An ebook exclusive novella from Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series."
I love the green, the detail, the raven/Puck on the top. It matches with the previous covers. Although thinking it's Summer's Crossing I thought they would go with orange for some reason, but I still like how this one turned out!! Oh and on Julie's website she said that startring June 1 you are going to be able to dowqnload it for free for a limirted time!! For more details I'll guess you'll have to follow her.

Isn't this exciting?! My only complaint is that it's going to be an e-book and I want a paperback copy of this book so it will look super splendid next to the others in the series. I would so buy it, wouldn't you?

Teaser Tuesday: Delcroix Academy: The Candidates

Hardcover, 293 pages
Published August 24th 2010
by Hyperion Book
"Jack, it's not that I don't... I mean, it's not that I don't like you, it's just... well, you know Cam and... well..."
He laughed as he shifted his books and put one arm around my shoulders. "What?" he said in a dramatic voice as he pulled me closer. "You mean Cinderella has already found her prince? And it isn't me? I m crushed. Truly, deeply crushed."
"Jack!" I shrugged out of his grasp and tried to ignore the fact that he smelled good, like cinnamon and coffee, and that it felt rather nice to have his arm around me. I tried to focus instead on his reaction. What I said didn't seem to bother him. Maybe I had misinterpreted him after all.
"You do't really think I'm going to let that pretty boy stand in my way, do you?" He winked at me and kept smiling. "Darling, you and I were meant to be. That's all there is to it."
This book is not turning out to be what I thought it would be, but I enjoy Jack nonetheless. Have you read this book? What did you think about it? Oh and what is your teaser?

Katniss and Prim's Mother Has Been Cast!

The nameless mother has a face. What do I think? I think it's a pretty sweet one! Did you guys know that she doesn't have a name? I never really noticed! I mean, she doesn't have a name throught the novel! What the hell!

"Paula Malcomson, who recently starred in Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica, has landed the role, joining Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) and Willow Shields (Prim) as her daughters."
I believe the lady works out. Not that the mother has such a big role, but every little player counts.

Review: My Life, The Theater, and Other Tragedies by Allen Zadoff

Title: My Life, The Theater, and Other Tragedies
Author: Allen Zadoff
Series: nope
Book #: 1
Pages: 288
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating: .9
Published: May 10, 2011
by EgmontUSA
High school sophomore Adam Zeigler, who lost his father to a sudden accident two years ago, thinks the best way to live life is behind the spotlight. As a member of the theater crew, he believes he's achieved it all when he wins the coveted job of spotlight operator. But that was before a young actress, Summer, appeared in his view. Instantly smitten, Adam is determined to win her over. But to do so, he'll have to defy his best friend and break the golden rule of his school: techies and actors don't mix.

Set against the backdrop of a high school production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Zadoff's latest is a bromance, a love story, and theater story in one. The politics of love and high school collide as Adam struggles to find the courage to step out of the shadows and into the light.
Taschima's POV:

I'm trying to remember the last book I read which was a stand alone... Nope can't remember. Well, besides this one of course. I think it was Pretty Dead by Francesca Lia Block. Why is it a hard time for me to remember this? Because I don't generally pick up stand alone books. I like series. I like revisiting characters and watching them grow. I don't like saying good bye. But that doesn't mean stand alone books are bad, on the contrary come of them are fantastic. Like this one. Very entertaining and real. A book for every teenage boy out there. Boy lead, not many out there!

In this book we meet Adam Zeigler who goes by Z and he is a techie. You know how you always read about the actors in the play and never about the person behind the stage? In this book you get to hear about the people who create everything from lights to sound to everything! Z is in charge of lights. He loves lights, they comfort him. Throught the novel we see Z deal with the death of his father, and other normal teenage stuff like the new actress with the faerie costume...

This book was like a breath of fresh air for me. Every single page I was like when are the vampires going to eat the faeries? I think my brain was just waiting for the kid to grow fur. But no, this novel is a coming of age novel. Its cute, and fun to read about Z. He really reminded me of a friend I used to have in my old high school. The whole novel reminded me of high school. Not the best days of my life, but it just comes to show that the author got the real high school vibe. We are not all attached daily by flushies, but cliques certainly exist and kids have to help each other out. The relationship between Z and the girl he liked though some people may say its not real I believed it! It can happen, in fact it has happened! Just because it hasn't happen to you it doesn't mean it's not possible. Oh and the bromance between Z and his beat friend? Not to be missed!! I really liked the best friend character.

Anyways, all I'm really trying to say is, it's so worth a read or two. It will not change your life, it might, but at least it will give you a whole new perspective on certain things. It's a nice high school book. So not my usual cup of tea but I really enjoyed it.

Waiting on Wednesday Guys

Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy, #1)
Paperback, 336 pages
Expected publication: July 26th 2011
by Kensington Publishing Corporation
"My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody’s head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.
But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I’m determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why – especially since I should have been the one who died..."
It sort of reminds me a bit of Vampire Academy mixed up with Harry Potter. Two of my favorite series so I'm so going to read the hell out of this book. The cover is fine, I specially like the girl's eyes.

PS; totally off topic, but my friend read The Hunger Games first book in a freaking day and is already asking me for Catching on Fire... Impressive.

Districts have been chosen...

They have chosen districts 1, 11, and 12. More to come buddies!

Rue- Amandla Stenberg
Thresh- Dayo Okeniyi

And of course you have seen district 12...

To be completely honest the only thing I remember about district one was that Glimmer is blonde and the guy is, am, there. District 11 however, I remember plenty of! I love the casting for Rue, and the guy is okay, not how I pictured him, but okay. The other two well you already know my opinion on Peeta and Katniss so I won't bother you again with that.

But I will bother you with The Hunger Games Facebook Page, visit it, follow it, like it. Make it your home page. Support it! And of course, give me your opinion on the cast.

Deja Cover

I love covers, it's one of my favorite parts about buying a book. I get so excited whenever I see a new cover join the club. Blood rushed, pupils dilate, the whole nine yards. That's what happened when I saw these 2 pretty covers, but then I looked at them closer and I got a sense of deja vu. Haven't I seen these before?

 Paperback, 304 pages
Expected publication: June 21st 2011 by HarlequinTeen

The first boy disappeared on the day of his birth, on a night when the pale yellow moon of the nighttime sky turned red and bathed the heavens in the ghastly color of blood, on the same night the Kingdom of Cokyri abruptly ceased its merciless attack.
Across the land of Hytanica, under the shadow of the crimson moon, infant boys continued to vanish. Not until the blood had faded from the sky did the disappearances stop and the bodies of the murdered infants were found outside the gates of the city, a final word from the greatest enemy Hytanica had ever known. For the next sixteen years, peace reigned, but one mystery remained unsolved. The Cokyrians had abducted forty-nine newborns, but returned only forty-eight bodies.
Now, as seventeen-year-old Princess Alera of Hytanica is besieged from all sides by suitors vying for the Throne, a teenage Cokyrian boy, Narian, is encountered within the walls of her Kingdom, a boy who will show Alera a world where women serve a purpose and not just a husband. As Narian helps Alera find her voice, she struggles against an arranged marriage that will shatter the life she has scarcely begun to live. And when Narian's shocking past is uncovered, and war with Cokyri looms once more, he must fight to defy a fate ordained at his birth.
Does this cover remind any of you of another cover? Maybe of a book by miss Anna Godbersen? The Bright Young Things covers perhaps?

Hardcover, 352 pages
Expected publication: August 30th 2011 by Simon Pulse

The first book in a paranormal teen trilogy featuring three beautiful, mysterious girls wreaking havoc on a small New England town.
Small teaser I know, I found no long book description. It sounds nice for now, and the cover is a looker, but everytime I see it ir reminds me of the Firelight Cover.

And that's all for today folks! So is it just me? Or is my feeling of deja vu accurate?

Waiting on Wednesday/ARQ...

Okay so I forgot it was Wednesday. To be quite honest all day today yesterday I had the feeling it was Friday. This Waiting on Wednesday today it's actually a novel I picked up today yesterday Wednesday. I'm already half way through it! Needless to say, I really like it. It was a very nice surprise, I mostly picked it out out of the blue. And I didn't pick it up because of the cover believe me cause I have the non attractive cover. I just picked it up, and it completely captured my attention.

Hardcover, 320 pages
Expected publication: May 10th 2011
by EgmontUSA

The Cover I currently posses:

I like the other cover better. That's just me though.

Here is a little sneak peak:
SUMMER

How came her eyes so bright? Not with salt tears:

If so, my eyes are oftener wash'd than hers.
"I love that speech," she says. "It's sort of like, if crying made people beautiful, I would be the most beautiful girl in the world."
She smooths down her hair, white fingers running through black.
Beautiful.
"You must cry a lot," I say.
"All the time," she says.
She stops, thinks about it.
"Oh, I get it," she says. "Thanks for the compliment."
I'm sure I'm blushing. I'm glad she can't see me.
"Do you cry because you're sad?"
"Sad, happy, frustrated. Lots of reasons."
"I guess it's okay for girls to cry," I say.
"You don't cry?"
"Not for a long time."
This novel is making me remember how high school was like, and its making me remember some people in specific. It's nice =]

Teaser Tuesday: Hourglass by Myra McEntire

Hardcover, 400 pages
Expected publication: June 14th 2011 by Egmont USA

"Most of the people I had grown up with avoided me like a cold sore. It all stemmed from the one key public event that got me committed. Long story short, I had a loud argument with a guy in the cafeteria at schol about how rude he was to take my seat when I'd only left it to get a fork. I then proceeded to threaten to poke him in the eye with said fork.
No one else saw him.
In case the straight-up screaming argument with thin air wasn't enough to convince the lunch crowd I'd gone over the edge, the hysterical laughing that followed did. It turned to blubbering when Lily wrapped her arm around my waist and hurried me to the bathroom."
ARC Pg. 13

I like this girl. You know when you start reading a book and then you suddenly just feel a connection between you and a character? That's how I feel about the main girl of Hourglass, Em. She is just something else.

They moved the publication date too. Before it was supposed to be coming out on May, now it's coming out in June. Oh the publishers are going to drive you guys crazy!! But I'm doing an Hourglass giveaway VERY soon, so don't lose hope!

The Hunger Games, a Challenged Book! F the what...

"It almost makes me happy to hear books still have that kind of power,"
-Alexie

This just in folks, apparently The Hunger Games is a bad, bad book. So bad in fact that it made it into the American Library Association's annual top 10 list of books most criticized in their communities!! I don't know if to cry tears of joy, because I'm very proud, or cry out in fits of anger, while still keeping my sense of being proud mind you.

It's number 5 in the list and everything! Oh the joy!
"In recent years, J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" books and Stephenie Meyer's vampire novels also have been on the association's list.
"Hunger Games" ranked No. 5 this year and was joined Monday by Meyer's "Twilight" (No. 10), which debuted on the list last year, and Sherman Alexie's "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian," winner in 2007 of the National Book Award for young people's literature. Criticisms of Alexie's novel include language, racism and sexual content."
Another great highlight from the article:
"The library association reported 348 challenges to books in 2010 and at least 53 outright bans, with other challenges and bans likely undocumented. The ALA defines a challenge as an effort "to remove or restrict materials from school curricula and library bookshelves."
Collins said "The Hunger Games" was recommended for ages 12 and up but said kids sensitive to the material might want to wait longer."
When I first read the article my mind experienced what is called a brain fart. I just... don't get people. I really don't. What is going through your head? Do you think your kids aren't reading worse stuff on the Internet? Do you think that your kid is better off being completely sheltered? These books, these amazing books I might add, touch on subjects that need to be touched, subjects that need discussion; they are books you can learn valuable lessons from. What is your problem? STOP CENSORING GOOD READING. Mind your own business, damn (although I guess censoring things IS your business, hmm I got an answer for that, CHANGE CAREERS!). It just makes me mad when children, tweens, teen, or anybody for that matter can't read what they want, and be themselves. In this time and age you would think that our minds would have broadened enough that we wouldn't do this kind of things anymore.

What do you think your sheltering your kid from? News flash, war is going on around the world, kids are being harassed for being different in every sense of the word all over the world 24/7... And guess what, it's not going to change. You might want to live in a perfect world but unfortunately that is not on the menu. Kids need these kinds of reads to prepare them for whats to come, to broaden their minds. These books aren't exposing kids to the big bad of the world, on the contrary, these books are helping them understand the world a little better and feel connected.

Let them read!

Other books that make us think too much:

"Crank," Ellen Hopkins (drugs, language, sexual content).
"Lush," Natasha Friend (language, sexual content).
"What My Mother Doesn't Know," Sonya Sones (sexism, sexual content).
"Revolutionary Voices," a collection of gay-themed stories edited by Amy Sonnie (homosexuality, sexual content).

Don't You Just HATE it...

When you talk to your friends about the kind of books you like and when you mention that you like to read paranormal/supernatural young adult they just go straight for this answer -> "Like Twilight... and more Twilight?" then they laugh and say they were joking but you know that in reality they weren't joking because they think the genre is for kids and tweens and Twilight fans only.

It really upsets me! I mean Young Adult is so much more than that. Don't hate on it because of one book that got too much fame for goodness sakes. People...

And thus ends my rant.
