Big Bookish News: Margaret Stohl's, co-author of Beautiful Creatures, New YA Series (Emphasis on NEW)

So, I wake up this morning and the first thing I hear is this:
Stohl Launches SF Series at LBYR
Margaret Stohl, co-author of the bestselling YA series Beautiful Creatures, sold North American rights to two books in a new series called Icon to Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. Julie Schiena acquired the novels from agent Sarah Burnes at the Gernert Company, and book one is slated for spring 2013
The YA science fiction series, which is set 16 years after an alien invasion, follows a group of teenagers who become swept up in a resistance movement looking to unseat the extraterrestrials who’ve taken control of the planet.
Also...
According to the announcement over on Beautiful Creatures The Book, Kami is going to have top secret news soon also!

A lot for a girl to digest before breakfast. So, new series by M Stohl, interesting. I mean, as long as it doesn't interfere with her Beautiful Creatures work then I'm cool with whatever ^^

What do you think about this new alien invasion extravaganza book?

The Various Covers of Natalie Hargrove; US VS UK

 New US Cover
To Be Published: August 23rd 2011

 Old US Cover - UK

My favorite one if the new cover they are going to publish for the US. The first cover they did was boring, I mean what were they thinking? The Uk one reminds me of the Fallen covers, but this one doesn't have the "wow" factor like the other Fallen covers have. My faaavoorite one is the new one. I'm even going to buy the book with this new cover. It resembles Lauren Kate's cover style, without being completely Fallenesque.

So, which one is your fav?

Review: Summer Crossing by Julie Kagawa

Summer's Crossing (Iron Fey, #3.5)
Title: Summer's Crossing
Author: Julie Kagawa
Series: The Iron Fey
Book #: 3.5
Pages: 57
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating: .5
Published: August 23rd, 2011
by Harlequin Teen
Julie Kagawa's Official Website
A Midsummer's Nightmare? Robin Goodfellow. Puck. Summer Court prankster, King Oberon's right hand, bane of many a faery queen's existence—and secret friend to Prince Ash of the Winter Court. Until one girl's death came between them, and another girl stole both their hearts.
Now Ash has granted one favor too many and someone's come to collect, forcing the prince to a place he cannot go without Puck's help—into the heart of the Summer Court. And Puck faces the ultimate choice—betray Ash and possibly win the girl they both love, or help his former friend turned bitter enemy pull off a deception that no true faery prankster could possibly resist.
An ebook exclusive novella from Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series.
Taschima's POV:

Puck wasn't my guy. Since the beginning of The Iron King I knew my guy was going to be Ash because I go for the dark brooding guy who wants to kill you at times (I need my head checked). But come on, we all knew we he wouldn't do it. But even though I'm Team Ash all the way, I still liked Puck. He is a smart ass, and I appreciate that in any character. A jockster, a trickster, the guy who makes you laugh your ass off all the time. That's Puck. But, some of you may know that Puck also has another side to him, and in this novella we get to explore and learn even more about Puck's inner conflicts and how his brain works. Because even though Puck is the go to guy, he is still Fae, which means he still has a dark side to him which we might not see too often but it's still there.

I absolutely love Ash and Puck's relationship. They are so much fun to be around. They kind of remind me of Jace and Simon from The Mortal Instruments trilogy. I reeeaally enjoyed this novella, which makes me think I was such a bad reader for not reading Winter's Passage (which I really want to read now!).

Only problem was how short it was, at one point I was like "damn, with this many pages left how is Miss Kagawa going to pull this off?" but she managed to do it and in a very impressive manner. The ending holds true to Puck's character, it blew me away! I wasn't expecting to be caught by surprise, but I was O.o I should know better by now!!

If this was a taste of how The Iron Knight is going to be (only with Ash's POV) then Bring. It. On. I am ready to tackle that bad boy. I never read E-books, never, but I devoured this novella in mere hours. Summer Crossing -the entire Iron Fey Series for that matter- is a testament to what a blend of great character and fantastic writing can achieve, which is epicness in big and small proportions.

Get it now while you till can! Available for free till June 2012!

"From first kiss to first love, there's no time like the first time."

So, do you guys remember 2009? Just yesterday I was going down memory lane, looking at my very first posts in 2009, so cute and so badly written at times. 2009 was a nice year, the first year I started blogging as a matter of fact.

Here we have an anthology with 25 different authors who debuted on 2009. The list of authors goes as follow (I'm going to put the authors name plus the name of a book they have written to freshen up your memory):

"With 25 different authors contributing, there's sure to be something here for everyone! From first kiss to first love, there’s no time like the first time. This will be an eBook only(available via Amazon, B&N, and Smashwords) and the tentative release date is October 2011."
-Jessica Verday
So the stories are going to be about "firsts". Sounds interesting. I really like that they are all 2009 debutantes, plus the cover looks pretty ^^ Maybe they should do this with all the debutantes from different years.

PS; I have a cover for all the debutantes, but the picture uploading thing is not working right now. Blogger and it's problems.

Which Reviews Do You Like the Best?

Mainly reviews fall into 3 categories:

  • Books That You Haven't Read
  • Books That You've Read
  • Books That No One Knows About or Pretty Much Pay Little if Any Attention To (These can fall into either category up top, but they have their little corner in heaven)

I personally go for the reviews of books I've read. Why? Because I like to know what other people thought of the book I either found fascinating or as boring as watching paint dry. If I thought the book was out of this world and you are then telling me that the book sucked, I want to know what happened along the yellow book road that your mind and mine started to take different paths.

Why did your mind took a turn for the worst and entered the path leading to Suckville while mine continued on the path believing that the book was good? It intrigues me. Not everybody is the same.

On occasion I like reading reviews of books to come that I have yet to read, but my favorite reviews are always the ones about the books I already read. I comment mostly on these. I swear every time I see a bad review (bad as in the reviewer didn't like the book, not criticizing technique or anything) of a book I adored I am just baffled. But it's fun! It's fun to see how other people react to that specific book you adored, hated, or simple fell flat to you.

So which category is your favorite? Which reviews are you most likely to read?

Review: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

Title: Bloodlines
Author: Richelle Mead
Series: Bloodlines
Book #: 1
Pages: 421
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating: .8
T.B.Published: August 23rd, 2011
by Penguin Young Readers Group

The first book in Richelle Mead's brand-new teen fiction series - set in the same world as Vampire Academy.

When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive - this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone's out for blood.

Taschima's POV:

I was so scared when I first started reading this book. I mean, City of Fallen Angels turned out to be a huge downer, what if one of my favorite authors ever (Richelle Mead) let me down? What is Sydney isn't as entertaining as Rose? What is the plot sucks? What if there is no Dimitri?!

My fears have been beaten down and vanished out of Taschima land. This book was awesome! No really, it was so good! The book picks up about a month after Last Sacrifice. In the last book Lissa was made queen and well not everybody is liking this too much. And so the unhappy few who dislike Lissa are going to do whatever it is they can to get her off the throne, even if it means killing a little innocent girl. If they kill Jill then Lissa will have to give up her throne since there is no other Dragomir alive. While they try to overturn the law that says Lissa can't be queen unless she has a living family member, Jill must go into hiding. That is where Sydney, the alchemist, comes in. With the help of Eddie and Adrian she must keep Jill safe at all costs, and believe me that this is more easily said than done. Along with this problem is another more mysterious issue at hand. All over the new campus they keep talking about these unnatural tattoos who seem to give the bearer abilities of some sort. Also, girls keep coming up dead with their blood partly drained and a slash on their throats, could it be some crazy Strogoi, or does the rumor of Vampire Hunters hold any truth to it?

Sydney is a wonderful character. Soooo complicated. Because we have this girl who ever since she met Rose she started to understand that the world isn't black and white, vampires are not all evil. They can be good as a matter of fact, or slightly better than some humans. So in one hand she has this knowledge, but in the other hand she has all of her people's believes that clearly state that vampires are the offsprings of the devil. They are evil, inhuman. They are to be tolerated but never liked. Getting to witness how Sydney deals with this conflict is fascinating because she isn't this perfect character who suddenly drops her long term beliefs for new ones, she is in a constant inner battle with herself. Like for example, she sees magic and she tries to run for the hills. Although I am a Rose lover, I really am, I can honestly say that Sydney is a terrific character and I am not sad in the slightest to have her guide me through this new world.

Bloodlines will definitely tie up some loose ends. Adrian is still pretty hung up on Rose, which is very realistic. I mean he isn't gonna get over her that easily. I am so glad Adrian is in this book! Every time he comes up it's like the sun shines on the pages of the book. Adrian is a hoot (I'm still team Dimitri but whatever). He's funny and charming, and obnoxious... There is a lot of Adrian in Bloodlines to go around. Along with the old comes the new too because we are introduce to some new characters. To be totally honest the new characters are okay, but I prefer the old gang. Call me old fashion.

Sadly there is no Christian or Lissa to see in this book, but there is some Rose and Abe. Eeeeks!

The only bad thing about the novel is that most of the mysteries I had them figured out pretty quickly. The minute something strange happened I pretty much figured out why this was happening. I believe there was one mystery that I didn't figure out, one of the biggies too. I loved that Richelle could catch me that off guard! I wasn't expecting the "final battle". That I could figure out most of the mysteries though doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the novel, I read those 400 pages like there was no tomorrow. Sad part is that now I'll have to wait a whole year for a sequel T_T

Also romance wise? Not much to talk about! The series is much more plot driven and there is little to no romance. Though you can see the roots of some other romance that has the possibility of blooming in the future. Also the ending had me screeching!!!! When a certain character appeared I went nuts and started jumping up and down. A few people that were around me started giving me funny looks, but I didn't care!

I don't want to give too much away, last thing I'm going to add is Vampire Academy fans don't be scared!!! Richelle delivered!!! Bloodlines passed all fire tests with flying colors. You will all enjoy it! So when August comes around run to your nearest Borders and even if you have to stay in the store all day and read the book, do it. It's worth it.

Invincible by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Title: Invincible
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Series: Chronicles of Nick
Book #: 2
Pages: 420
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating: .3
Published: March 22nd, 2011
by St. Martin's Griffin

Just when he thought things couldn’t get any worse...

Nick Gautier’s day just keeps getting better and better. Yeah, he survived the zombie attacks, only to wake up and find himself enslaved to a world of shapeshifters and demons out to claim his soul.

His new principal thinks he’s even more of a hoodlum than the last one, his coach is trying to recruit him to things he can’t even mention and the girl he’s not seeing, but is, has secrets that terrify him.

But more than that, he’s being groomed by the darkest of powers and if he doesn’t learn how to raise the dead by the end of the week, he will become one of them...

Taschima's POV:

In a sense I'm really happy that I didn't read Infinity till this book came out because Invincible picks up right where Infinity left us. Like the same night and everything, Nick is with his friends after having survived the zombie apocalypse, knowing that nothing will ever be the same again. The very next day he wakes up to find that even more people want him dead.

This book held all the things that I loved about the first one. The characters are still a blast, Nick is still a smart ass, and there are plenty of supernatural creatures to go around. But this book is a little bit slower than the first. And the plot developed in a weird way. The ending seemed a bit rushed, by the time there were 20 pages left I didn't know how the book was going to wrap up at all, but it managed to do so.

Nick's eyes are finally open to some truths of the world. The book is enjoyable and a great sequel to Infinity. I just can't wait to get my hands on the third book cause the ending on this one was pretty awesome!! I mean, it isn't as fast paced and fill of action as the first one but instead it manages to answer a shit load of questions I was left with by the first book. Things I didn't understand became clear and I find myself learning more and more about the Dark Hunter world.

My favorite part of the book is still the dialogue though. It's filled up with enough sarcasm to make this girl fall in love. I heart me some wit. Nick is still a sweet heart, and darn I hope he stays this way. Buy it and read it, it's so worth it! Not better than the first one, but still a very strong second book!

A Lost in Time (Melissa De La Cruz) Sneak Peak

Expected publication: September 27th 2011
by Hyperion
"No, you have to hear it." She said, and she put her mouth right on his ear and he could feel her soft breath as she whispered the words he wished she'd said to him on that fair day in December in Italy. "I should never have left. I love you. I love you more."
Then she was kissing him, and it was Schuyler's lips, and she smelled just like Schuyler, and her hair was silky and soft like Schuyler's and he knew that when her back was turned, he would see a mole, right between her shoulder blades that was just like Schuyler's. She was Schuyler and she returned his love and Oliver did not see why he had to pretend he did not want this, did not want her, did not want exactly what was happening right now."

What did just happen? Is this a dream? What's happening here? OLIVER?! WTF? This makes no sense what so ever, why is she doing this to him? Is he dreaming? Let him be dreaming or something, but then this doesn't make sense with the story line from Bloody Valentine...

I don't know, but that's that. The book will be out this September, so for now all we can do is sit back and bite our nails.

And hope that something is definitely wrong with this scene.

She leaves behind her friends, a group of freaks and geeks called the Leftovers, including her emo-rocker boyfriend, and her father. But understanding love, especially when you've watched your parents' affections end, is elusive. What does it feel like, really? can you even know it until you've lost it?

Love and Leftovers is a beautifully written story of one girl’s journey navigating family, friends, and love, and a compelling and sexy read that teens will gobble up whole.
Aaaw!! I love the title, the cover is also so cute! Plus it's in verse which is always fun.

Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Series: Chronicles of Nick
Book #: 1
Pages: 448
Reading Level: YA
Book Rating: .5
Published: May 25th, 2010
by St. Martin's Griffin
Sherrilyn Kenyon Official Website
At fourteen, Nick Gautier thinks he knows everything about the world around him. Streetwise, tough and savvy, his quick sarcasm is the stuff of legends. . .until the night when his best friends try to kill him. Saved by a mysterious warrior who has more fighting skills than Chuck Norris, Nick is sucked into the realm of the Dark-Hunters: immortal vampire slayers who risk everything to save humanity.

Nick quickly learns that the human world is only a veil for a much larger and more dangerous one: a world where the captain of the football team is a werewolf and the girl he has a crush on goes out at night to stake the undead.
But before he can even learn the rules of this new world, his fellow students are turning into flesh eating zombies. And he’s next on the menu.

As if starting high school isn't hard enough. . .now Nick has to hide his new friends from his mom, his chainsaw from the principal, and keep the zombies and the demon Simi from eating his brains, all without getting grounded or suspended. How in the world is he supposed to do that?
Taschima's POV:

This reviews is brought to you by someone who has never read Miss. Kenyon's other series titled Dark Hunters which is the adult series where Nick comes from. Needless to say I will purely be giving you my view on the YA aspect of this series and not in how it relates to the adult series or how cute Nick was when he was younger. Cause for me, Nick has always been young, and I don't know anything about his adult self other than what it's said in this book.

You have been warned...

Now, Nick Gautier is a blast! When we first meet Nick he is this poor young guy who lives with his mother in a two space apartment (livingroom/kitchen area + Mother's room) but who is wicked smart. Smart enough to get into the most prestigious school around. Of course, being poor in a school full of rich kids brings Nick all sorts of problems, like being picked on every single day of his life. Needless to say he's miserable. One night Nick is approached by some friends of his who are about to commit a crime and Nick tags along because he is mad and kind of desperate for some cash. But when he sees what his friend's are up to (beating up this old couple for cash) he quickly steps in and helps the old couple escape. His friend's give him the beating of his life, and so enters his guardian to save him from sure death. After this event Nick's life will never be the same. After this event he starts to witness the supernatural side of life, and discover his true destiny, which isn't as cuddly and perfect as many of our other protagonist. Nick has a legacy he must fulfilled, he is either destined to save the world or destroy it. A lot of pressure to put on the shoulder's of a 14 year old thats for sure.

Okay, so Ive basically told you how the story begins. To be honest I picked up this book because of one single line in the summary, which was "his quick sarcasm is the stuff of legends" and boy is it right! I wanna be taught by this kid some good extra wit and sarcasm. Thing is, he ain't the only witty kid on the block. Every character has their own sarcastic remark to give to the reader, and this makes the story all that much more fun! The dialogue alone will keep you entretained throught this novel. All the characters are entretaining and essential. I love them all, specially Bobba the crazy guy.

But let's be serious, we need more than dialogue and fantastic characters right? (Some do) So lets go to plot and how it develops. The plot is strong, and it was delivered beautifully. The only problem I had with this book really was that in the back of my head I kept thinking that some event or some line or other had special meaning I wasn't catching because I hadn't read the Dark Hunters series and I was probably right! Also for a first book it gives you so many things to figure out that you can get kind of taxed. Because by the end of it I was left with so many questions it wasn't even funny. Half the time I was confused as to which characters were actually good and which were evil and out for their own neck. But, in the bigger picture this is kind of great, cause it shows that miss Kenyon can keep you guessing, and I like that in my author.

I should also go ahead and tell you guys that in the novel the forces of both evil and good are fighting for Nick. They each want him on their team and will go through every channel to get him. Also, the line of evil and good are blurred and not as black and white as they use to be. Like for example if in order to prevent Nick from destroying the world the guardians need to kill him then so be it. And some of Nicks friends are demons, and they are very friendly.

Another good thing about this novel is that is so boy friendly! Young boy readers should pick this jewel up. If you have a brother or male friend tell them to read it! Nick is currently going through puberty in this book and his character is just so real. No boost of unexpected power for him, his powers are locked away and he must train and learn how to use them (except in special cases where he is about to die... ya know).

I could be going on and on about how funny and entretaining this novel is, but I think you need to find that out for yourself. Pick a copy whenever and start reading. You can thank me later.

Reasons I want to Read Vampire Academy Again

Dimitri: "No, it wont happen to you. You're too strong. You will fight it, just like you did this time"
Rose: "I only did it because you were here, I cant do it by myself"
Dimitri: "You can, you're strong--you're so, so strong. Its why I love you"
- Rose Hathaway & Dimitri Belikov (Shadow Kiss)

Rose: "If you'd teach me to swear in Russian, I might have a new appreciation for it."
Dimitri: "You swear too much already."
Rose: "I just want to express myself."
Dimitri: "Oh, Roza… You express yourself more than anyone else I know."
- Rose Hathaway & Dimitri Belikov (Frostbite)

Dimitri: "Do not do that again."
Rose: "Don't kiss me back then."
- Dimitri Belikov & Rose Hathaway (Frostbite)

"I've given up on you. Love fades. Mine has."
- Dimitri Belikov (Spirit Bound)

Taschima: Don't say things like that! You make me sad!

Rose: “You think it’d be nice to have a cabin up there? Out in the woods where no one could find you?”
Dimitri: “I would think it was nice. I think you’d be bored.”
Rose: “It wouldn’t be so bad if we had cable. And Internet.” And body heat.
Dimitri: “Oh, Rose. I don’t think you’d ever be happy someplace quiet. You always need something to do.”
Rose: “Are you saying I have a short attention span?”
Dimitri: “Not at all. I’m saying there’s a fire in you that drives everything you do, that makes you need to better the world and those you love. To stand up for those who can’t. It’s one of the wonderful things about you.”
Rose: “Only one, huh?”
Dimitri: “One of many. So, no peaceful cabin for you. Not until you’re an old, old woman.”
Rose: “What, like forty?”
- Rose Hathaway & Dimitri Belikov (Blood Promise)

Dimitri: “What’s that?”
Rose: “Halos. For heavenly creatures like us.”
Dimitri: “That might be a stretch.”
- Dimitri Belikov & Rose Hathaway (Blood Promise)

"If you (Nathan) lay a hand on her, I will destroy you. I will rip your head off with my bare hands and watch it burn in the sun.”
- Dimitri Belikov (Blood Promise)

Rose: “Tell me again. One more time. Why do you want to awaken me so badly?”
Dimitri: “Because I want you. I’ve always wanted you.”
And that’s when I knew. I finally realized the problem. He’d given that same answer over and over, and each time, something about it had bothered me. I’d never been able to pinpoint it, though. Now I could. He wanted me. Wanted me in the way people wanted possessions or collectibles. The Dimitri I’d known . . . the one I’d fallen for and slept with . . . that Dimitri would have said he wanted us to be together because he loved me. There was no love here.
- Rose Hathaway & Dimitri Belikov (Blood Promise)

Rose: “I will always love you.”
Dimitri: “That’s what I was supposed to say. . . .”
- Rose Hathaway & Dimitri Belikov (Blood Promise)

Dimitri: "You saved me."
Lissa: "I only did the final piece. The rest . . . well, Rose did, um, a lot."
Rose - Say, like, organizing a prison break and releasing fugitives.
Dimitri Belikov, Lissa Dragomir, and Rose Hathaway (Spirit Bound)

Dimitri: "They weren't supposed to let you in."
Rose: "Yeah. Well, I kind of found a work-around."
Dimitri: "Of course you did."
- Dimitri Belikov and Rose Hathaway (Spirit Bound)

Do I have to say more? I mean, come on. This series is fantastic. I need to read it again... This will be my third time. I don't regret it!

BTW In cause you didn't pick it up, I want to read it solely for Dimitri and Rose... a little bit more Dimitri. I miss my Russian man.

Eve knew the stories of the Fall, of a time before she wandered into the colony of Eden, unable to recall anything but her name. She's seen the aftermath of the technology that infused human DNA with cybernetic matter, able to grow new organs and limbs, how it evolved out of control. The machine took over and the soul vanished. A world quickly losing its humanity isn't just a story to her though. At eighteen, this world is Eve's reality.
In their Fallen world, love feels like a selfish luxury, but not understanding what it is makes it difficult to choose between West, who makes her feel alive but keeps too many secrets, and Avian, who has always been there for her, but is seven years her senior.
The technology wants to spread and it won't stop until there is no new flesh to assimilate.
With only two percent of the human population left, mankind is on the brink of extinction. While fighting to keep Eden alive, Eve will discover that being human is about what you will do for those you love, not what your insides may be made of. And even if it gets you killed, love is always what separates them from the Fallen.

Yes I know, one of them is already published. But, not a lot of people know about it! So I took it upon myself to educate you. Plus, it has an amazing powerful cover. I thought you'd like it. The two covers make such a contrast. The first one is all soft and pretty (I love it) and the second one is so rough and harsh but still beautiful in its own way. I want them both, and I want them now!

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead Teaser

I have a couple of good spoiler free teasers!!!
Two even include Rose!!

1. I nodded, trying not to look flustered at the recognition. Then I realized Keith had frozen up beside me. He'd claimed he could "handle" being around Moroi, but apperantely, that meant staring gape-mouthed and not saying a word. Keeping a pleasant smile, I said, "Keith, this is Adrian Ivashkov. Adrian, this is my colleague, Keith Darnell."
Adrian held out his hand, but Keith didn't shake it. Wheter that was because Keith was still shell-shocked or because he simple didn't want to touch a vampire, I couldn't say. Adrian didn't seem to mind. He dropped his hand and took out a lighter, stepping past us as he did. He nodded towards the doorway.
"They're waiting for you. Go on in." Adrian leaned close to Keith's ear and spoke in an ominous voice. "If. You. Dare." He poked Keith's shoulder and gave a "Muahahaha" kind of monster laugh.

2. Keith frowned. "But you don't live here do you?" I was surprised that this, of all things, would draw him out. Maybe he didn't like the idea that his intel was faulty. He was Palm Spring's Alchemist, after all, and he'd believed Clarence was the only Moroi in the ares.

"Nor regurlarly, no," said Lee. "I go to college in L.A., but my schedule's just part-time this semester. So, I want to try to spend more time with Dad."

Abe glanced at Rose. "You see that?" he said. "Now that's devotion." She rolled her eyes at him.

3. "I glanced between them, puzzled. "I was told there'd be a dhampir along... did they decide to send two?
"Rose invited herself along," said Abe. "Just to make sure the rest of us didn't miss anything. Eddie's the one who will be joining you ate Amberwood."
Rose scowled. "I should be the one staying. I should be Jill's roommate. No offense, Sydney. We need you for the paperwork, but I'm the one who's gotta kick anyone's ass who gives Jill trouble."

I finished it! My review will be up soon, all I can say for now is that it met my expectations and more!!

Remember the teasers come from an ARC copy and are subject to change ^^

Chris Colfer (Plays Kurt in Glee) signs a Two Book Deal with LBfYR.

Here's the scoop:

Glee co-star Chris Colfer has signed a two-book deal with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
The Land of Stories, due in summer 2012, will tell the story of twins Alex and Connor Bailey and be a fast-paced adventure series that combines the modern world with fairytales. It will target readers ages 8-12 and be followed by a second novel that is yet to be titled.
When I was 10 years old, I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to write this book, I would jump at the chance,” Colfer said in a statement announcing the news Wednesday. “This book has been at the core of my imagination for a long time and I’m excited and nervous to share it.”

Chris is a great actor. To be honest he is my favorite Glee character. He got into that show and basically stole our hearts. Every week I tune in with the hopes of hearing him sing (his voice gets better and better with every season). Whats more is that he is an inspiration to every single kid and girl out there who are struggling with their true selves, who are too scared to come out and be who they are. Gay or otherwise really. He is awesome...

But can he write? I am afraid that we will always have a shroud of doubt in our hearts as to if he is using another person to write for him. Why? Cause he is an actor and that's what they do! I mean, I still have my doubts when it comes to Hilary Duff and her series. Don't you?

I really hope he writes this book himself. But how can we ever really know? I guess the only thing we can do is just to hope and trust him.

As to the book itself I am guessing that I will want to read it since he will "write" it. It seems below my normal age group though. So it's still a maybe.

Dream Dark by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

ebook, 75 pages
Expected publication: August 2nd 2011
by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Dream Dark word count: ~10,000

FROM LITTLE, BROWN PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT:

New York, NY [June 7, 2011] – Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will publish an exclusive e-book as part of the bestselling BEAUTIFUL CREATURES series by award-winning authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, it was announced today by Andrew Smith, the division’s Vice President and Deputy Publisher. DREAM DARK: A BEAUTIFUL CREATURES STORY is a never-before-seen short story, created as a prequel to BEAUTIFUL CHAOS, the hugely anticipated third book in the series, which goes on sale October 13.  The e-book is set to release on August 2 for $1.99, and will be available for download across all digital platforms.

The Story:
When Link joined his best friend, Ethan Wate, on a quest through a mysterious network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, he knew the journey would be dangerous. But returning home to Gatlin, South Carolina was just the beginning...
Wounded during a climactic battle, Link discovers that tending his injuries won't be as simple as visiting a doctor and that healing his arm should be the least of his worries. For being bitten by a Supernatural does more than break the skin -- it changes a person, inside and out, turning Link into someone more and more like the dark creature who injured him.
In this never-before-seen short story by New York Times bestselling authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, readers witness Link's heart-racing transformation. Dream Dark is set before the much-anticipated third Beautiful Creatures novel, Beautiful Chaos, and as a special bonus includes an exclusive sneak peek at the first five chapters.
The newest thing now seems to be Novellas. Everybody from Julie Kagawa to our girls K.G and M.S. are doing them. Generates buzz, keeps the characters fresh in our minds, and it feeds the hunger of starving fans. I think they are brilliant! Keep em coming as long as they are a good quality piece of work (like Summer Crossing was, review coming up later on today) and go along with the series.

This Novella however is not free like Summer's Crossing was, it's going to be $1.99. A fair price? I guess so considering how popular this series is, but Julie Kagawa is just as popular on these parts if not more and she let us have it for free for a certain lapse of time. I wish this were the case with this Novella too T_T  I don't even own a Nook or a whatever of those evil little things that let you read E-books. So I would have to download it to my comp... I hate reading things in my comp.

So, excited?!?! I am!
