After inheriting the dark Van Alen Legacy, Schuyler flees to Florence with her forbidden love, Jack. Now the two of them must embark on the mission Schuyler was destined to complete: to find and protect the seven gates that guard earth from Lucifer, lord of the Silverbloods...

While Mimi has been elected Regent of a crumbling coven. Struggling with her heartache over the loss of Kingsley...as a new threat intagles the Vampires as they get abducted and their captors plan to burn them alive online…for all the world to see. As the Blue Blood enclave weakens yet further, fate leads Schuyler closer to a terrifying crossroads. After inheriting the dark Van Alen Legacy, Schuyler has a choice that will determine the destiny of all vampires.

Taschima's POV:

The story starts like this: We are in Europe with Schuyler and Jack and they are being held captive by the European coven. They are planning their escape, and it doesn't seem so easy. While on the other side of the hemisphere we have a new ruler of the New York coven, none else than Mimi Force. New York must really be in a pickle. The latest? A vampire has been kidnapped and the kidnappers have threatened to burn her alive, and you want to know how they found out? Through a YouTube video. Since this is happening they send our for some help, which is how Deming Chen comes in, she is the Angel of Mercy, and the detective who is trying to solve the case.

I think I pretty much got it all. This book is divided into three stories, that of Jack and Schuyler, that of Mimi Force, and, strangely, that of Deming Chan. My main complaints about the book:
  • Too short (265 pages)
  • Its a bridge.
  • Since it was divided into three parts we get to see so little of Schuyler and Jack! I loved Mimi's part, and it was interesting to meet the new character, but Schuyler is the main protagonist, what happened?
But even though all this things bother the hell out of me, I still liked the book, mainly because I like the characters. I have no idea where it is all going. The book seems at times so confusing it bothers me. And at other times I was so busy trying to piece the pieces together that I got turned off the story. I mean, what is going on? I forgot half the characters by now, and in the back of my mind there is a little voice telling me that I have forgotten about an specially important character, Schuyler's sister perhaps? Where was she?

I think re reading the books before going into this one would be wise. There are a large amount of characters in this story so, some get left behind... I can't wait for Bloody Valentine, I am really curious to know where all this is going.
